Remember Night Gellery? Do paintings take on a life of there own and change thru the years?

I have to move forward in painting figuring that only a couple of people in my lifetime will appreciate my Art. Why is it when a painting becomes older, more people like it (specially if artist is dead). I say that Oil Paintings CHANGE thru the years. They have a magical life of there own. Isn't it funny that Dennis Hopper was the only person to see Warhol....only Theo saw Vincents work.

If I were to continue the thought, it all started when I thought about the unsold VanGoghs sitting around when a genius was painting and screaming. -
So, OK, the canvas doesn't change as I said previously...........we begin to understand the new language that the creator intended.....people become familiar with a new design / brushwork laid down by the painter and they begin to fall in love with the strokes and find comfort it its presence.
I paint because I love my paintings...
