Puppies and Ballerinas, Oh My..

Puppies and ballerinas? Whatever do they have in common? Well, let me explain.
The past week and a half I have been spending some time just studying the human form; as in proportions, curves, angles, movement, all the things that make the human body intriguing artistically. In my studies, I realized that ballerinas, and dancers in general have the most beautiful forms to study and draw. I have been, in a sense, getting back to the basics, but focusing on just pencil drawing the human form - from facial features to the movements a body makes. And while I am at my desk, head down, buried in sketches, I have a five-month old puppy pulling at my socks because I have neglected him for my drawing. Last week, I adopted a puppy, thinking I could handle him and all his wonderful puppy quirks. Needless to say, I feel like I once again have a newborn in my care. I am seriously now the stereotypical new mom hanging out on the couch, crazy hair, even crazier eyes, still in my pajamas, sleep deprived, and not able to get much work done because I am constantly having to tend to my overgrown hairball puppy that is teething on everything.
Thus, ladies and gents, the real reason behind my late post. (I am not going to try to cop out with the old 'puppy ate my blog post' spill) I can say I am now back on track after learning once again to jungle new the mom-dom with work, and all the other things we ladies have to do. I am currently working on some new drawings, and will be posting them for you guys shortly. Til then, I bid you farewell, and I hope your week is off to a great start. (gah, who really likes Mondays, anyway?)
