PUBLISHED Our State Magazine December 2013

In December 2013, Our State Magazine ran a story titled, "A Prayer for North Carolina," where an assembly of thought leaders shared their hopes and desires for the future of the state through a storytelling narrative format. The article spanned forty-six pages of the December issue and expanded still more onto its own hosted website, http://prayer.ourstate.com where the writers shared their work and additional photographs accompanied stories. This was my first paid publishing opportunity as a full-time photographer and I couldn't have been more honored to have it with such a great magazine and with a story that was of tremendous substance for the state and its people. This photograph was taken just a few months before being licensed for the magazine during a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While sunrise was not to write home about on this particular morning, patience rewarded me with some ethereal sun beams reflecting the calm coastal estuary in muted blue tones.
