Every month Our State Magazine chooses something symbolic related to the arts, food, music, people, or places from the state of North Carolina and features it in the front material of the issue. During the month of June, Our State Magazine chose to highlight the Carolina Moon and utilized my photograph of the 2013 supermoon setting over a calm Julian Price Lake off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock, North Carolina. The blue hour of the morning provided for the relaxing hues and Grandfather Mountain's Calloway Peak provided for the dramatic backdrop. The image was featured with a lunar calendar, showing the various moon phases for several months.
