Poem

The functional dysfunctional you
February 27, 2007

We grow up in a broken family of questions like why…You learn you will become nothing but a lie…Your family members self destructive ways to the point it causes such pain you cry…Is this what life has to offer you at ten, you want to quit this and just die…You want to play outside with your friends, watch TV, watch a VHS movie while eating vanilla ice cream with hot apple pie…You wonder were is Mom or Dad, will they ever come back home or will they even come back to say good-bye.

Well you get past the younger days with only one parent struggling to make ends meat, put food on the table and hope that you never ask them why…It’s so hard for them to get out of bed when they get time off to relax and no one coming to visit or just drop bye…Lucky for the two meals you get to eat and another day has past and just barely squeezed by…You keep to yourself for there is no trust in you by others including family so you won’t have to hear, bye…When you have an altercation your temper flairs, your eyes turn red, steam evaporates from your head because they would not comply…A left, a right, you bob and weave hoping not to be the one with the black-eye…He said this, she said that while all along every one of course will deny.

In the end we are all dysfunctional to a certain point and it does not have to be a disguise…Realize your limitations, seek help for your misunderstandings and don’t give in to negativity must be your only reply…Stay positive, Embrace life for what it is and keep looking up until it is time to go home and fly.
