My Life is Like a Toadstool

A toadstool (mushroom) begins its life in a very simple way. Spores are generated and dropped onto the ground or into the atmosphere sometimes in the trillions. These spores or seeds make up the next generation of the toadstools. As they blend with the earth a change happens. The next stage is germination in the moist, damp soil producing the mycelium. The mycelium begins to draw on the nutrients and water around it turning the earth into a fungi colony, spreading and growing. All this happens underneath the surface of the earth. Then as it develops fully, a full grown mushroom emerges from the cozy substrata overnight.

Artists are comparable to the toadstool, who after a intense period of development, seemingly pop out overnight. Unseen by most is all the action that was going on through the years and sometimes decades of an artist's career.

Don't try to skip any stages of your development. You will only become a full grown virtuoso if you accomplish the hidden labor first. Then and only then can you materialize fully seen by all.
