Memorial Day, The Meaning of the American Flag.

The American flag. A symbol of pride, bravery and freedom. As it flies in the wind representing freedom, justice (and hopefully equality, soon) the costs it required to still be that symbol of hope for so many around the world were very high. The lives of so many young men ( and women) was the price paid for it to still be an emblem of fairness, pride & freedom. I have one outside my front door. I fly it with the knowledge of its expense and as the song goes,

"Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

The American flag will always be a symbol of hope. May all those who paid the ultimate price for it to still represent such valor and bravery rest in peace. May they all know their sacrifice was not in vain. Let freedom ring!!!
