How far we travel in one moment, throwing our eyes up to a star a billion billion miles away or casting a wild thought farther still across the vast ecliptic of the soul so that in the space of a second man may be anew! All old trails are left behind and new goals rise like faintly descried mountains.

- Max Brand, Red Wind and Thunder Moon

I read the whole book to be gifted with those sentences. I would never have even read the book had it not been for a reading contest I decided to take on (the winner -as yet to be determined- will win an Apple iPad) and so I set out to fulfill my reading assignments! I chose the book for the great looking cover (pictured) and.......the rest is history (ha). I had heard of Faust before but hadn't read anything of his until this gem. This is the second in a series of four, but the first one "The Legend of Thunder Moon" was not available and so I started with "Red Wind and Thunder Moon". It was a glorious read. I can see now why he is considered a literary genius. Dear Sir, consider me your latest fan.

PS / I found this blog entry an interesting read on Frederick Faust (aka Max Brand)..... http://www.blackgate.com/2010/04/20/somebody-has-to-talk-about-frederick-faust/

The weblink I provided below is 'the official" Max Brand website and I wanted to honor that, but I found it curiously lacking for such a literary giant.

On an Artistic Note / I also rediscovered the Artist Max Brand (Germany) and enjoyed renewing my love of his works!..... http://www.drooel.com/2010/12/14/max-brand/
