Man's Chapel is the oldest standing church building in the state of Illinois. It is located south of Rossville, Illinois about 3-4 miles on route 1. It is no longer used as a active church, but is still used often for weddings and family gatherings. It is a very popular destination for photographers like myself who enjoy the beauty of the old and historic things that have been preserved for future generations. Enabling us to remember a time when things were simpler and less complicated. The morning I was there I had to wait for the photographer a head of me to get done so I could get a good shot of the building and the surrounding features of the cemetery. And speaking of the cemetery, it was very common a hundred years ago for the area around a church building to be the final resting place for the family and all your friends and loved ones. And Man's Chapel, as you can see, has a cemetery surrounding it. This cemetery is still actively used as a burial place. Hope you all enjoy the picture.
