Making Dollars and Cents with the ARTS An Art Symposium

Tuesday evening I attended and participated in an Art Symposium and Exhibition at the Tri-Cities branch campus of Washington State University.
Panelists were there from Walla Walla, Spokane and Boise and shared their passion for the arts and the effects they can have on a local economy.
My partner in painting crime, Suzi Vitulli, and I had a table/exhibit. Rather than just have an exhibit, however, we decided to paint while there. We thought our colorful paintings, and the fact that we were actually creating art at our table, attracted the attention of a photographer. Little did we know we were being filmed by the local NBC station. You can see the little newscast bit here. :)
Here’s a glimpse at one of the pieces I was playing with while we were at our table. Both Suzi and I did a version of it.

We also decided to have a drawing for a free print of each of ours. This is the piece I gave away, Landscape a’la Betts. It will go to its new happy home soon.

All in all, we really enjoyed connecting and networking with other artists of all types – performing, visual, and of the written word—as well as others interested in growing the art scene in our community.

Paint on! In gratitude,

Chris Blevins, The Unexpected Artist
