Madrid to Barcelona

Working from a sketchbook and imagination, this piece recalls a lucid memory of our drive from the Madrid airport to Barcelona one winter break....we were completely jet lagged but kept ourselves awake by listening to the station Maxima FM with the windows partially rolled down. We knew hardly any Spanish whatsoever and eventually entered Barcelona and searched for our hotel....no GPS but several Spaniards guided us to our destination. I my mind, I still remember the bright sunlight, rugged terrain, and the Gaudi architecture once in the city.
