Listen to the Birds

I heard the White-Crowned Sparrows for the first time this year in mid September. I usually stop to listen to their sweet song, a song that always brings back memories. I close my eyes I yield to the reverie allowing the transport to times in my childhood when we camped on the beach. In those times it was summer and the sparrows were raising their families. Their song became a song of happy days, breathing ocean air, walking on the beach and being at peace. All the senses that accompany that memory come alive, sights, sounds, tastes, smells, temperature, touch and emotions. The White-Crowned Sparrows announce the arrival of autumn and their winter habitat in the mountains. I am grateful for their reminder to be at peace. Now would be a good time to use this feeling to create a piece of art.
