Is a it a good thing for an artist to write a blog. I'm not sure if it is worth while or not . As a professional artist trying to survive in a very competitive art world I suppose an artist must or should use every marketing tool at their disposal. There was a time when an artist would leave his or her work with a gallery and leave them to do the selling while the artist did what they did best create. Now galleries (if you are lucky enough to be in at least one very good gallery or have your work spread around in several galleries ) expect artist to have their own professional looking web sites, along with a CV , a well constructed and well thought out artist statement. As there are far more artists than there are gallery spaces artist have taken to the internet to get their work seen. There is a lot out there but choosing the right platform can be difficult. The best place to see a painting is still in a good well lit gallery. The artist studio is also a good place to see an artist work and most artists will welcome visits along as they are given a bit of notice.
The artist just has to let folk out there, know that they have work that is worthwhile taking a look at.
Blogging is one way but in order to know its working the artist needs a response!
