Inspired by Nicholas Roerich Artwork

I have included some of Roerich's quotes in my photographic images, in memory of this great artist.

Nickolas Roerich (1874 - 1947) was a Russian painter, writer, archaeologist, and art historian whose poems and paintings have been very inspirational to me. From early childhood he had shown an interest in drawing, in archaeology and in discoveries. He had collected lots of minerals and also created his own arboretum where he studied flora. In 1893 he began to study at the Academy Of Art at St. Petersburg University and his works have been also inspired by classical music.
Anna Selivanova wrote about his art: “The original force of Roerich’s work consists in a masterly and marked symmetry and a definite rhythm, like the melody of an epic song.”
The Roerich Pact (1935) was signed at the White House to protect the world's cultural treasures as part of his contribution to the world. He also designed the Banner Of Peace which also contributed to uniting the artists and the cultural heritage all around the world.
In the 1920s more than 400 of his works have been displayed in Chicago Exposition, where he worked and also designed costumes for theatre.
On his travels to India, Altai, Tiber, Mongolia and the Himalayas with his wife, Roerich wrote poems and painted thousands of works.

Some of his paintings can be viewed here!
