Humor - What Happened When I Went Into A Printers Shop.

In UK i send my digital portraits to a London based printers, who i am very happy with, but the prices i guess are quite expensive, the quality is top notch which is why i have stayed with them for 3 years.

But always on the look out for a closer printers.

I went into one that has been opened maybe 6 months only 10 minutes walk from me, they have a FB like page, no website, and no lists or print outs. They do t shirts and football shirts and they have a large sign on the window saying they do canvas prints.

So, i thought i would go in and check out what they have to offer.

The printers in London print on 100% eco cotton canvas and stretch on solid wooden frames, print on a matt fabric which i feel makes my portraits look brilliant.

Back to the shop, thought i would give you some background first.

So.. I find out there is a new shop that does tshirts and canvases...

The female owner in the shop, so i was asking her questions.

What weight is the canvas is it 100% eco cotton canvas, is it wrapped on solid wood frames, is it matt print, what type of inks do you use, do they have a 75 yr guarantee they will last, blah blah kind of questions..

Her reply was, no idea if its cotton, so i asked to see the roll, it had a plastic feel, okay, so not 100% eco cotton, so i asked to see the frame, she said, well we cheat, we don't actually put it on a real wooden frame but these plastic ones, which was a blank canvas frames you get from the pound shop, okay, so its not a proper frame you would wrap a canvas on. So the inks, she said we use compatible inks it keeps the price down, okay so the ink is not going to be a guaranteed 75 yr life.

But its actually okay she said, we are not breaking any laws.
Actually i thought, you broke all the rules in my book, your not selling quality. Then i thought just for fun i would ask her about gallery wrap is it possible to do a mirror wrap or black or white wrap. I did try and explain by picking up a sample she had and told her what i meant. She then said, which i have laughed about all evening, she said, "Well we print, and then wrap on the 99p canvas frames then if you wanted a black or white wrap we would put a frame around it. OMG can you actually image the tack it would look?

So, then the question went on to her printed tshirts.. lets just say if you want a hen night or stag do, then that is the perfect place for tshirts. But you want to keep washing them for years, then its not the correct place to go.

So in the actual shop, not on a website or a like page, but in the shop, she had no price list, or details i could check online.

And this is a shop on a busy road which get a lot of traffic, and people will see the big sign as i did for canvases.

Always amazes me that people are happy to pay for tack rather than have quality on their walls.
