Flowing

Just watching the massive flow of the Mississippi, its swiftness, its volume, and at times its radiance, always leaves me with a good feeling. I like watching any river flow but especially this one because of the energy thats slipping by. Energy that was pumped into the oceans which evaporated the waters, that formed clouds and rained down on our continent in any of its 1,245,000 square miles drainage area. At times I wonder what de Soto and his men thought when they first saw this impressive body of water. But then they were after GOLD not rivers. A river such as this was an obstacle to their pursuit, which they overcame, and continued wondering looking for ElDorado, and died trying.
