Evolution in My Painting

We live in an amazing age. Mixed media used to mean the application of two substances to a surface. But I'm finding it's a lot of fun taking the digital image of one of my abstract oil paintings and playing with it, mostly with duplication and reflection. So, as I'm learning to oil paint, I'm finding I also want to try digital art. It doesn't have the same organic feel in the creation process. It's akin to baking and then decorating a cake, I think.

I'm also finding that little 10"x10" abstract paintings don't take very long. Or, I should say, I don't spend much time on them. Generally, they're comprised of leftover paint from some other project, and are almost all knife paintings. To be honest, in general, I don't take as long on my paintings as other people due to my day job. This did start, after all, as a hobby. So, after a challenging day, some prayer, meditation, painting and music, all enhanced by the love of my family, and my soul is right again. I'm so grateful God designed us to respond to such elements.
