Engineered Art - Hidden Treasures

For want of a better name I call it "Engineered Art" so my apology to my architectural colleagues, but in truth I am talking about those detail drawings created to build the manmade world around us but stay hidden, locked away in plan draws of Consultants and Councils all around the world. My quest is to find those drawings created before the advent of CAD (Computer aided Drafting). In particular I am searching for those drawings that have transcended the pure utilitarian nature of detail drawings to become works of Art. The beautiful linework, the exquisite lettering, the colour, the detail of a bygone time.

The drawings on my site represent just a start but if you know of beautiful engineering design and construction drawings for Iconic buildings, bridges, towers tunnels or any form of structure as well as beautiful machines or components, please make contact as I will seek the permission to bring them out of the draws and show them to the world.

As a practising Structural Engineer and Creative Professional, this is more than just an interest.
