Creating a Panorama of the Chicago Skyline

I love creating panoramas, at least when it goes well - and sometimes even when it doesn't. The Chicago skyline was generated from several images combined in software (I used Hugin, but Photoshop and several other packages provide this capability). Getting those images was not a lot of fun, however.

I was on a trip to Chicago last fall, and went to the shore of Lake Michigan to capture some cityscape pictures. It wasn't all that cold - probably low 40s, but the wind was blowing (in Chicago - who would've guessed?), and my desert-acclimated hands whined incessantly. I got set up with my tripod, and started taking the sequences of pictures required for a panorama. Unfortunately, my camera and lens had an on-going argument (my lens nearly ended up in Lake Michigan on numerous occasions when the lens would stop talking to the camera). Anyway, despite frozen hands and squabbling equipment, I got a sequence of shots that combined to make a decent shot of the Chicago skyline. I hope you enjoy the work!
