Creating A Good Photo

In order to create a good photo, you need to find a subject matter that interests you and others. I think that is a given. Also, make sure the horizon is straight unless there is a reason for it to be crooked. I have made this mistake and when I catch it, I redo it. Important is to make sure there is a subject matter. I just saw a photo where a rowboat was partly seen. I could not discern a point of interest. It garnered a lot of likes and votes, but there was no subject matter and not even color to move the emotions. It was a lesson in not what to do in photography. I don't believe that it is important to adhere to the rule of thirds because that can hinder creativity. That said, it should have a good composition that is pleasing to the eye. The last thing to ask yourself would you buy it if it wasn't your photo.
