I have presented a proposal to the Natural Science Center of Greensboro concerning the death of their pair of Gibbons. My work, "Psychic Monkey" was based on the younger, female gibbon. I proposed to give my portion of the proceeds (from another site -- more printing options) of the sales to benefit the replacement and housing of the gibbons there in the future.

I thought the idea would be a nice way to promote my work and at the same time give back some to the community.

Have other artists out there tried something similar?

I am still waiting to hear back from the Center. Wish me luck.

That's an excellent part of a successful marketing strategy, Scott. I did and do it quite often. Most and for all it makes you feel good - plus it gets out name out ... and they remember you when the time is right.
