Catch up

Wow almost a year has come and gone since my last blog. Those of you who have stayed with me have seen how I believe my work has improved since then. Partly because I now have a vehicle to get me around to the place in my area better and of course have got to discover Kelowna area more than ever since moving here from Victoria four years ago. I have picked up some really good books for those starting out and dont mind reading intense material. Richard schmidt's books Alla Prima and Katie Swatland's book that completes some information not covered in Richard's book. Books are good but then yes you have to apply them. Which for me I take parts of the book and apply them to my paintings or studies. Iam not trying to paint like him I just want to know and understand what he thinks when he is starting a painting and finishing a painting. Of course I can break any rules or twist any ideas that he projects and just opens up some alternative practices and ideas.
I have as well taken some workshops for thefirst time this past year just to pick up some tips and make sense of the stuff I been reading. Not stopping there. The internet has lots and lots and lots of stuff on business art and learning to sell the stuff I make. I have been in some shows through My Studio showing at the Alternator Gallery. Art walk is coming up in September as well as a few other shows. Tony Lewis of The Vibrant Vine has opened up a gallery and wine store here in Kelowna called Cahoots on Gorden and Cassorso rd. and Iam happy to be a part of that. The Vibrant Vine has been involved in building and supporting Orphanages in Haiti.

So staying busy this past year I have also been looking after my parents and dealing with my Dad who underwnt cancer surgery. Has no Colon left at 85 he has had a full life. I recieve Robert Genn's email and was sad to hear that he departed this world only to hope he has found a better place. I enjoy Sarah's (his Daughters) letters and are always a joy to read.
