Catalina Mountains, Tucson Arizona

Tucson, my second home.

I grew up in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and as far back as I can remember as a child, my family's two most common destinations where Hermosillo, the state capital to the South, and Tucson across the border to the North. Technically, of course, I should include Nogales, Arizona on this list, but I can't, and that story is for another blog post. Hermosillo meant family, and lot's of it. How many wonderful and loving memories those trips created. Tucson on the other hand was diversion, distraction, and sometimes for no particular reason at all, just a quick getaway. Even as a kid I remember longing to see the mountains! Everywhere I looked, mountains! I did not know their names then but I remember feeling I knew them, like you know a friend that is waiting for you. Fast forward several years and I found myself enrolled at the University of Arizona in Tucson where I would seek certain places on campus just to look at them, at times crowned with snow, or wearing clouds as hats, or just changing color outfits during the day. Looking back, it was not by accident that I made my second home here. Still to this day, I admire how God gave us mountains in every direction we look. Happy to be here. Hope you are too, wherever you are today. "Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness!" Psalm 72:3 (ESV)
