Black Fox

This little fellow arrived on a work trip. I was visiting one of my company's branch offices for a week of training. One evening, I was thinking about a project that a co-worker was doing. For fun, he thought about giving his project the code name "black fox." That got me thinking about black foxes. On the trip, I carried a small book for notes and sketches, along with some charcoal and graphite pencils. So I pulled out my phone, found some images online, and started drawing. In short order I had this cute little guy.

It is interesting that I made this drawing while I was traveling; while I was away from my home. Significant commitments can require much from us, including the loss of home, or at least the lapses of time away from our home and family. But if the cause is worthy, then the commitment should be worthy of the cause. This Scripture passage comes to mind.

As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, “I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” And He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.” Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
