Autumn 2014

Summer's almost over, so a few of my autumnal images have moved to the top of the page.

"Waving Grasses" was made somewhere upstate New York, but could be almost anywhere. The message is the same: end-of-summer ripeness, seeds ready to spread, warm-palette colors.

"Open Road" — more about the mood of the season than the reality. It was in Australia, near the Myall Lakes about four hours' drive north of Sydney. To me it somehow suggests the lure of the open road, going somewhere after a sleepy summer.

"Autumn" — self-explanatory, really. Shot on Long Island. I just liked the arranged-by-nature composition and the rich colors.

"Winter's Coming" — and the squirrels know it. The ones around my house are manically busy eating and stashing nuts. Sadly, the great Southern Pine in this picture came down in Hurricane Sandy.

More seasonal artworks to follow. Also coming, a few more pictures made in France last May.
