Art as a mirror to nature. A determinator.

Art has always played a role in reflecting the society we live.

This concept extends from the large scale, in how we as humans have interpreted the structure of the earth and universe which is based on the ruling philosophy, science and religion of the time. Art can also mirror nature on the small scale, such as how we see fine details and how we produce art using different materials and how we understand those materials. As science expands we understand nature better and better, both on the large and small scale.

With our ever growing understanding of the make up of the world, the universe and the tiny particles that surround us, I question how has art evolved to represent this. Certainly some art has evolved while other forms of art remain mostly unchanged through time. It is not nessessarily right or wrong for there to be changes in art, but there will always be artists who conform and those who don't.

I would like to remind the artists reading this to remember the role of art as a mirror to nature. It is even more interesting to consider how art is able to refelct the world we would like to live in as opposed to the world we actually live in. Is it possible for art to determine the future by subtely spreading a message? The message could be possitive or negative but it is a reality that art reflects messages about the past, the present as well as the future.

As artists are we representers or creators who determine the path ahead. I believe art is a determinator.
