Anything But Easy

It's easy to spout out the words, "I'm an artist," but to actually follow through on those works is a bit harder. It takes perseverance and an inner resolve that most people lack. When people sneer, scoff, or blow you off it must roll off your back but it's not easy. And that's only the outside critics, which have nothing on those inside demons that fuel your fears like my work is not as good as so-and-sos or how we can see all our mistakes in our work. Yet the process of creating must override our inner and external nay-sayers because the work is what makes us feel fulled and alive. If we lose sight of that, we might as well hand over the keys to our creative drive because without that being our centering mindset, the work and not the accolades, we will get ground down and burnt out, producing nothing that sparks joy within us or those viewing our work.
