Busy Busy Busy

We live in a busy world. Our lives are full of busy. It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness and never, or rarely, “stop to smell the roses” as someone once said. Well, living with an artist is that “stopping” moment.

When I return home after a long day’s work and enter my husbands Art studio, I am welcomed by beauty and light (And I don’t mean just his smiling face! ). My Artist loves light! Right now he’s painting a series of light and nature, my two favorite things in the world, especially during winter months when the light is limited and my bones are literally aching for the return of spring and summer.

As my Artist rambles on enthusiastically about the extremely technical process of a layering technique and color mixing, I look at what he’s accomplished on the canvas and am touched by the light, beauty and realism he’s already captured in the paintings early stages. I realize this is the first time today that I’ve actually “stopped” and given thought to all that is good and right in this world. If anything, art brings our attention out of the trenches of “busy” and reminds us of the beauty that surrounds us.

That, my friends, is one of the magical things a beautifully painted canvas can do for us.
