"Against Fall Colors", 8" x 6" (2) plate monotype print on 12" x 9" Stonehenge paper.
This was my first attempt at using more than one plate for a monotype. The background and the foreground were each painted on separate acrylic plates. The background was painted on the plate using watercolor paints and was pulled first with the wet paper. Next the foreground was painted on a different plate using water soluble ink, and the same paper (still wet) was re-registered and pulled a second time. Initially, I left the paper wetter than usual so that there would be enough moisture left in it after the first pull to reactivate the foreground image.
