2 Mountain Sunday

I was fortunate enough to be able to climb not one, but two mountains this past Sunday. The first was Beaucatcher Mountain that overlooks downtown Asheville. The climb to the top of Beaucatcher is one most tourists are not aware of. There is no "official" trail to get to the top, but following the well worn paths from Town Mountain Road is a moderate climb rewarding the hiker with an excellent view of The Paris of The South. Storms were clearing out that morning and the skies were spectacular. I took more than 100 pictures using my collection of prime lenses. My favorite result is the panoramic view of Asheville available at www.Bill-McMannis.ArtistWebsites.com. Depending on the media printed on, this panoramic image can be printed, with excellent clarity, up to 9' long.

My second climb was Mount Pisgah off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This was a higher and far more rigorous climb. When I made it to the submit, clouds socked in the view, but I was thrilled to have made the climb. The trees, moss and rocks are rugged on the climb and I took dozens of images on the assent. The image Trees on the Climb to the Top of Mount Pisgah is also available at www.Bill-McMannis.ArtistsWebsites.com.

The heavens opened up as I began the descent, but fortunately my equipment and I stayed dry as I had a poncho with me.

It was a satisfying day.
