Do we need to reinvent the wheel every time we create a work of art? Clearly other artists have not done this. One famous artist was quoted as saying "good artists copy, great artists steal". What do you think? Aren't we all influenced by everything we have seen. Television has a tremendous sway over me as far as the images I see. I am simply fascinated and often pause the broadcast to take a photograph of whatever image is frozen there captivating me. I love the images on tv. Slightly fuzzy, capturing a moment in time that I want to reproduce as an artist. Am I stealing? If I take a photo of of a sunset, of a fellow artist or my cat, is that original? All those images have been done over and over again. I just don't know if anything is original. If you look at enough of them, abstract impressionist paintings all start to look alike.

I paint what I want to. It's ok if it isn't to your taste. When you learn how to please a certain segment of humanity, you will be successful in a monetary way. Now I'm going to steal a quote from my maestro Mark Clark. "Money is the sincerest form of flattery."
