One Step at a Time

Last time I challenged myself to create a drawing or sketch on ten consecutive days. I have failed to live up to this. I have drawn four images, and I intend on drawing six more. However, it is going to take more than ten days to complete the challenge. And I am totally okay with this fact.
I have not been feeling well over the last few days, and it was challenging for me to keep up with drawing, posting, photographing, etc. I allowed myself to go at a pace that was comfortable, not pressing to get more done than I was capable of.
I realize that it is important to set goals, especially where work is concerned. I also realize the importance of going at a pace that is right for you. It is one thing to make the things that need to get done a priority. It is another to push yourself into doing something because you think you have to. Then you risk doing less than what is your best work. And when it comes to creativity, this isn't a good thing.
At first I felt bad that I skipped a day doing a sketch. But then I realized that the world will go on for one day if I don't draw. Yes, I said I will make ten sketches, but it isn't essential that they are made on ten consecutive days. I will work at a pace that is right for me, and when creativity strikes... I will draw.
