This acrylic palette knife painting of a rural landscape was an experiment in see how far I could take the palette knife. At least 90% of this painting was painted using the palette knife. Brushes were used only to add some details and to adjust value and color in some small areas using glazes. This photo I used for reference was taken in Fairfield, Utah, a small ranch town in the desert surrounded by pretty much nothing for several miles. There were a lot of these interesting trees with unusual branches and shapes giving shade to the cows and horses.
