PERSPECTIVE is a huge word and one might do a PHD in diffferent PERSPECTIVES of ART. I intend to describe how I relate my life experience reflected in some of the art I have created. From the perspective of the ART WORLD I am not an accomplished ARTIST, but from my deep personal life experiences I have accomplished a lot but never got time and inclination to put them on words. Rather, I always preferred to express myself in Visual. However, ODD, out of synch, out of place or whatever negative adjustives it might invite.

Here I am (today) thinking of writing a blog about it, but pretty not sure if this would be accomplished.

For this time, I will just tell you about you in a word NAVIN, which in Hindi and Sanskrit means NEW or CHANGED. Like CHANGE is PERMANENT, my life has proved to match with PANDIT correctly named me NAVEEN, Nanda Ballabh, Nand Kishore and everyone accepted the name NAVIN. Why that name also has a STORY, that I would like to tell next time. No one has confirmed that to me but it is just my thinking that why the name NAVIN was given to me.

Naming conventions in Northern India, Himalayan Region.

The Pandits are not big Astrologers. There is no certified curriculam in Hinduism to start practicing as a Pandit. Generally it is the age old Bhrahmin Families that continue the profession. Those who can afford send their SONS (majority male child only) to grand schools of Sanskrit in Varanasi, Haridwar or other places where higher learning in SANSKRIT is possible, will have them practice but again it is a family practice as villagers even those migrated to cities would prefer a pandit from the family of pandits from their ancestral pandit family.
Otherwise, any one of their children wether professionally educated or not will learn the reading of HOLY BOOKS of PRAYERS and RITUALS from their fathers or brothers while accompanying them as a child assistant and later take over the practice as Pandit.

At my current age with some failing memory which switch on and off without notice, I do remember Pandit RAGHUBAR who probably performed my naming ceremony and I have seen him do all kind of rituals for 7-8 years for our family and in the village. Pandit Raghubar died a long time back while I migrated to Nainital for study and then to cities of RUDRAPUR, DEHRADUN, New Delhi, Noida,Toronto and now living between America, Canada and India. I met Pandit Raghubar's son on several occassion in Delhi doing rituals for families of my brothers and sissters most of who are now in Delhi. As our family GURU I always make some offering of Money to the GURU whenever I meet him. On some occassions, I have requested my elder DIDI (sister) Vimla to offer my respects to the Guru when she meets him .. to be contd..

I really love the work you do. I come from Kumoan region of Uttranchal (City DWARAHAT, Distt. Almora). I did not have any opportunity of formal education as my father expired when I was in 6th grade. We had a big family of 5 brothers and 2 sisters and a widow mother and we lived in the village.

Fortunately after 45 years my father’s death, all brothers and sisters are well settled around the world. Between my jobs and part time education, I had opportunities to think careers in Architecture, Art, Drama, Politics, Engineering and Import Export. A break up with my wife (now divorced), led me to bring my two sons ( 1 in USA an Executive with a Bank) and other a Lawyer in London UK. The set back on break up of family disturbed my peace a lot and I could not settle on a steady job in Toronto. So, finally this year I decided to RETIRE and enjoy the company of granddaughter here in US.

Now I have all the time in world to create art but no real interest for name or fame. However, my pride is still a hindrance in keeping peace of mind as I don't want to depend on kids for ever and must earn equivalent to retirement money may by next 10 years. I don't have a fixed place or property so I could create a studio and therefore, I am concentrating more on GRAPHIC form of art.

I love to write, but could not concentrate my mind on subjects. I have a million ideas in my mind on writing but no substance on those subjects. Even, I find it difficult to get together my own story in a book form due as my mind wanders a lot and cannot make the story flow in a creative manner.
