Are You Hiding Your Talent?

As I have stated in my biography,I grew up drawing as a hobby and as I got older, I continued to draw and paint. It was self gratifying. I didn't see myself as an artist in terms of promoting and selling my work until somewhat late in life. There were two reasons for this. Number one, my self esteem was low and I didn't have enough confidence in myself and number two; I needed a mentor but for unknown reasons no mentor stepped forward. It was only when a friend showed one of my drawings to someone else and said I was an artist. That was an awakening and from that time forward I sought to promote and sell my work. In doing so I discovered I had a God-given talent that allowed me to draw and paint on a competitive level without any formal training. Perhaps someone reading this might be able to identify with my previous circumstances. Are you in some way denying or minimizing your gift? Do you inherently know that you are gifted in some way but are hesitant to "step out into the deep," so to speak? Your gift or gifts may not be art. They could be in another category. Whatever they are, don't let anything stop you from developing them to their highest level. Just remember God gives gifts to bless us and enhance the lives of others. Go for it!
