A Little About The Artist

Now that I’ve told you how I plan to attract you to my site, let me tell you a bit about the artist. I have been drawing and painting all my life. I started, as many of us do, as a small child using finger paints and crayons to express myself. Of course back then I had no idea that I was telling a story through art. But I did know that I could escape into my world of art and imagination. It’s sort of like reading. If you like to read you know that books can take you anywhere.

My father enrolled me in art classes at the Cleveland Art Museum when my age was still in the single digits. I remember going downtown to the museum on Saturday’s with my sketch book and pencils in hand. I think that was when I fell in love with the quiet and the smell of the building. I would sit and draw my version of the paintings that hung above me.

I went on to get a Certificate in Commercial Art by the time I graduated from High School. My dream was to attend The Cleveland Institute of Art. Although my father was very supportive of me, he did not see the potential to earn a living through art. I continued creating and selling pieces every so often while I changed my educational focus.

So, now with one degree in Gerontology and another in Psychology, I am spending the later years of my life as a freelance writer who also creates art. To this day I feel at peace and calm when I step into an art museum. The feeling is similar to the smell of old books in a library, or sitting inside an empty church. There is something about the calming effect that creating art has for me.
